Recently, there was an article in TOI mentioning that there has been a increase in the school drop outs for kids in India. The reasons are simple, the majority of the kids still go to the government schools and the conditions of these schools are not favorable for studies. The environment is not very friendly and cleanliness and hygiene takes a back seat. Many of these school run under the state government does not even have proper toilets which has been one of the main reasons for kids dropping out from school specially girls. Many of the drop outs kids are those who have been admitted to the school by some NGOs under RTE but did not follow up with them. These kids may not leave because of the hygiene but due to some other reasons such as their parents were not strict, lack of transportation, feeling of inferiority compared to other kids in the same school, lack of resources etc. Hence NGOs should not only admit the kids to school but also monitor them at least for some period o
