Gov Policy | HSRP: High Security Registration Plates | UP | Process Explained

As per CMVR (Central Motor Vehicle Rules) 1989 Rule 50, all the 2 and 4 wheeler in Uttar Pradesh (UP) must get the HSRP fitted into their vehicles.

HSRP stands for High Security Registration Plates and comes with below benefits:

  • The font and pattern for the number will be uniform and hence will be easier for the traffic police to trace and follow the pattern.
  • These plates will be difficult to replace as the locks are non-replaceable.
  • These are high security plates i.e. all the information of the vehicle is stored in central database and hence will be easier to trace the stolen vehicle. The chip embedded plates will be helpful in tracing stolen vehicles.

Dealers: The list of dealers include primary agencies in your city based on the company of the vehicle. You will be able to choose the dealer while completing the online registration as mentioned above.

Fees: Fees depends on two or four-wheeler, class and some other details. For a 4-wheeler it may be around Rs.600/- as published by one of the newspaper. The fees involves both plate charges and fixing the plate. 

Communication: Once registration is completed; dealers will send you SMS notification for the appointment. Once the owner registers the details, it will be up to dealers to take it ahead. They will also verify the details and may ask you to update the details if there is any mismatch.

Inspiration From A Luna Driver

It was a cold shivering morning of 18 th  Jan 22 in the northern Indian city of western Uttar Pradesh Meerut. Weather was very harsh and covid cases were surging in all parts of India.
